19 Dec Three Positive Ways to Start 2023
As the new year approaches there is a lot of pressure to set big goals. Ringing in the new year should be a positive experience and a time to reflect and set intention. Here are three ways to start 2023 on a positive note.
Set Achievable Goals
The biggest reason people are unable to keep their New Year’s Resolutions is because they make unachievable goals. Focusing on smaller goals gives you a more frequent sense of accomplishment making it easier to stay motivated. If you have a big goal you’d like to reach, try breaking it into monthly increments so you can maintain steam. Goals can be simple things like vowing to exercise 10 minutes every day or saving up enough money for a fun trip. It doesn’t matter what the goal is as long as it is something that you truly want.
Focus on Taking Care of Yourself
A great way to shift focus onto yourself is by starting the year with a letter to yourself, listing the things that bring joy to your life and ways you can create more of that for yourself this year. Find time to check in on yourself regularly and ask yourself how you’re doing and note what’s bringing positivity into your life and figure out what you need more or less of to allow more room for happiness in your life. Do things that make you happy whether it’s spending more time with friends, finding a new hobby, or going for a nice walk.
Reflect on the Past Year
Another great way to ring in the new year is to reflect on what went right and what went wrong last year. Find a comfy space and cuddle up with your journal or your laptop and ask yourself some introspective questions. Asking yourself these types of questions can help you to gain clarity and have a clear vision of what you would like next year to look like.
- What brought me the most happiness?
- What was most challenging during the past year?
- What are some habits I would like to leave behind from last year?
- What did I do that I would like to continue doing?
As 2023 approaches remember not to get caught up in the pressure to create big changes overnight. Instead focus on yourself and create small goals that enhance your every day quality of life.
